IJAS name1

A new peer-reviewed journal called the International Journal of Aviation Sciences has been created by the Florida Institute of Technology College of Aeronautics.  This journal is free to authors to publish and free to the public to view articles. IJAS will publish articles that are related to a wide spectrum of topics relating to Aviation Sciences.  These topics include human factors, safety, sustainability, meteorology, airport design, aviation management, and many more.

Our Executive Editors would like to invite you to submit a research article.  We look forward to becoming an industry leader for aviation research in the coming years, and believe receiving papers from quality researchers will put us on that trajectory.  We plan to have the first issue published in early 2016.

Our aim is to provide a platform for the sharing of scientific ideas and to foster intellectual growth of our industry. In this spirit, the journal will be free to authors and readers.  Readers will be able to download the papers for free from our website, and are invited to make comments on the discussion boards.  Our journal is author-friendly, in that we will make every effort to allow authors to revise and resubmit rather than rejecting their work outright.  Please keep in mind that we will have high standards, but our action letters will focus more on helping authors revise to our standards rather than sending them elsewhere.

Another interesting feature that we aim to utilize in each issue is to invite an article from an expert in a particular field of Aviation Sciences, and then invite the research community to make response commentaries.  Following this, the initial author will be allowed to make a final rebuttal article.  Lastly, we allow discussion board comments (moderated, of course) on the website for each target article.  We believe this concept fits well with the overall aim of the journal to stimulate scientific debate and discussion among some of the top minds in the industry.  This model has worked well for many well-known journals (e.g. American Journal of BioEthics) and we believe that the discussions that will ensue will be insightful to all!  Aside from our single target article per issue, all other research articles published will follow the standard journal protocol.

The types of paper we are looking for include, but are not limited to:

Brief reports of ~1000 words

Short empirical articles of 2500-4000 words

Longer empirical articles of 4000 – 6000 words

Letters to the editor

Books reviews

We look forward to working with you, and hope you will join us on this exciting endeavor.  Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns, and we will be happy to help you in any way we can.  We look forward to your submission!
